UK to USA - Help!

I'm not really too sure where to start. I've been wanting to move to the USA for a few years and it has always been in my plans. Now, I've got to start the process and I'm not really sure what visa I should apply for or where in the country I want to relocate to. I've always wanted to move to California, but I hear that CA is full of illegals? Anybody who could recomend somewhere for me to look, I would really appreciate it. I don't want to move to the USA just because of its opportunities but because I really dislike the UK, I think it's horrible and terribly boring, and I love travelling and exploring new places and I think the USA is somewhere I could definatley settle down. Everything in the UK is American Based now, nowadays we have more US TV Shows than British! I know I can't participate in the DV Lottery, which is really annoying, because that looked like a really good way of possibly immigrating to the US. If anybody could help me understand the visa process, I would really appreciate it :).

Quite interesting that you labeled CA as full of Illegals.
Anyway, there are so may places you could live in the states depending on what exactly your looking for. U can make a choice as to what kinda weather you want, food, people, and little things like coz stuff like that changes from the east coast to the west and south. if you like it warm all yr round, then i think the south will be prefect for you. CA if you like it not too hot during the winter months and then midwest/North east if you like winter and show.
The Midwest is a cheap place to live if you don't have alot to spend. Anyway, there alot to know abt the states that you need to take a vacation, visit places and then figure out where u want to live
About the visa stuff, i assume u have a british passport so you can travel on a visa waiver but can't stay more than 90 days at a tme. Moving permanently to the states, you would need a greencard and it takes yrs to get that thru employment. unless you have a USC Spouse.

well, that's funny. Some people play 10+ years in a row, and never win. What a good way to move to the US!
