Hi everybody,

I am ready to apply for RTD, but I had a quick question regarding RTD and taxes. I know on RTD it says you need proof that you paid taxes, and I read old posts that said that you don't need to carry your tax returns, but my question is what if you are a homemaker and you don't have any income. It's my husband who file taxes and claim me as dependent. I haven't worked in about 5 years (I am a homemaker). Do I have to worry about being asked about my tax returns at POE? I don't know if they have a system to check if I am dependent or not at the POE. I just don't to be hassled at POE. Any experience?

Thanks

They dont care. They only care that you have valid entry documents & you were not in any FBI's list etc.

Taxes and RTD are two very different things. You don't have to pay taxes to get a RTD. You have to pay USCIS, that's all that matters to officials at POE, unless your name is on some kind of list that shows you or your husband as having delincuent bills with IRS. That's a different story.

Good luck
:p

Thanks

Thanks guys for all your responses. As usual, it was helpful!
Don Chinche, you better come in the DC area before I owe you too much!! I might not afford you after awhile :)

What about people like me who are in D.C? Free lunch??
Don chinche is the one who advised me to email NSC for my GC and when I got it, I had told him I owed him lunch! That's what he is talking about and the desert is for the advice he just gave me! Hey if you want to join us for lunch, the more the merrier!! Taking you out both for lunch is not going to be as expensive as hiring a lawyer right?

Why do you need RTD?
Google, I can't use my NP that's why I need RTD.
