Hello, I holding a H1B visa which expries on August 07, applied for the extention and still waiting for the approval. Meanwhile my 485 date became current. When I get my H1B extention I would like to go to my country to get stamped on my passport and also see my parents, who are very ill. Should I wait for applying to 485 after I got back from my country?, according to my laywer once we apply for the 485 I can not leave the country even if I have current H1B?
Also, due to my work I travel alot internationally, what kind of paperwork I need to do for travelling out of country during 485 process.
thanks

You need a lawyer who is familiar with developments in US immigration that have occurred since the year 2000. :)

Your H will work fine so long as you are with your employer; as a fallback you should apply for AP as well with your I-485.

That is BS. I have personally filed for I 485 and left the country and returned (while it was pending). I did file for Advanced parole along with my I 485, and also had H1B validity. My personal view would be get ur H1B approval and apply for visa in your home country, also if you have advanced parole approved by then its a bonus although not mandatory. So that in case for some reason your visa is denied you still can return on AP.

One thing I wanted to point out travelling OUT of the US (if going to your home country) does not require anything to be done by you. you can leave anytime. If you are going to a certain country other than your home country, you'd need a visa to enter that country, travel documents you need when RETURNING to the US are your valid non expired H1B stamp in passport or advanced parole that is valid.
One more thing I want to add is just make sure your I 485 is filed and it is recieved before you leave the country.
