stay outside US for 15 months

i would like to stay outside USA for the next 15 months. i have a green card.
do i have to apply for any form for staying outside usa can i apply later or before leaving usa. in the year 2015 i will apply for us citizenship. if i stay in foreign country for 15 months will this affect my us citizenship

While you must apply for the Re-entry permit before you leave the country, if you cannot apply for Re-entry Permit soon enough to have it returned to you before you leave, you can have it sent to the US embassy in the country. This is what I used to do with my wife so she could have the longest time possible on her permit. But please check the form before assuming that you can still do it, as this was some years ago.
