H1B Visa / Severance agreement

I have an H1-B visa valid until March 2008. Under the severance agreement with my company, I will continue receiving my regular salary and benefits until the end of the year, including my monthly statements. Am I ok to 1) stay in US until the end of the year? 2) Transfer the visa to a new employer, if I find one before the end of the year?

As long as you are getting your pay stubs and W2, USCIS does not care about what you are you doing -- Playing or sleeping in your office.
