Birth Certificate taking too long.. any alternative?

Hi,
I need to get birth certificate for my wife to file the 485 application on time. In Mumbai, when my in laws tried to get the certificate from Ward office, the clerk told in a usual very rude way, to fill out the request and come back in couple of days to check the "Status". Apparently after it is sent to filing dept, they will take their sweet time of 6-7 days to search for it.
If it is taking too long, can i just get the affidavit from my in laws and submit that?

your LC was filed in 2003 and you know that you and you wife will need Birth certificate it is your mistake not to get all the documents in advance.

if your wife Birth was not registred in Mumbai with municipality then get Non Avalibility certificate
if get certificate then also get two affidevits from her parents on stamp paper signed by Notary.

** If your wife is from Mumbai then you know how things work why not to give"chai Pani" and Vada Pao to cleric? One of the person in NJ has the same problem I just rang up one of my friend in Andheri west and he got the BC same day paying “chai pani” and person got the scanned letter and got the original in 7 days on NJ address. Ask your relative to PATAO the Clerk

Thanks for the reply.. actually i had a birth certificate for her but when i gave the papers to my lawyer, she said that the format is not acceptable. It has to state the birth registered date and number. That's why i am running around at last minute.

--------------ask the lawyer that in Mumbai all birth certificates are like that and it not the first time that sombody is filing I-485 with this kind of BC from Mumbai. I think the BC will have some number on it and it will be in Marathi and lawyer should not expect it in English, Notary in India can translate the BC in English and stamp it with his seal and write "True Copy"

Birth Certificate Alternative

Hi Experts,

My birth was never registered when i was born in 1971. The problem here is i was born in Bijapur where we have no connections. My grand parents lived in Bijapur for 2 yrs in 1971/72. I have got 2 affidavits done by my parents. But the attorney requested me to get a Non Availaility Certificate which the officials in Bijapur refuse to give. They say that they need proof of address at the time of birth even for Non Avaibility Certificate. What do i do in this context. I have contacted yourmaninindia but i am not sure whether they would get it done :(

Also can i go ahead and file i485 in June with the affidavits & school certificates having my birth date?

Any advice would be of great help.

------------ get the name corrected and then let the Notary translate it in English
Do you think i would need an affidavit too along with the certificate
-------get 2 affidavits on stamp paper signed by parents/relatives before Notary
, because i am collecting it at such a lats minute?
