Fundamental EAD questions

After wonderful glorious moments got back to the earth again. I have few questions regarding EAD and appreciate answers. Our corporate lawyer is processing our I-485/AOS. For EAD and AP, I need to pay out of my pocket! And the lawyer charges $250 per person. So for a family of 4, for EAD and AP, its $2000.

1. I saw EAD fees is $180 and will it remain same even after 1st June? I heard that fees are going to increase and I am not aware which fees and from when they will be increasing.

2. If I am not concurrently applying AOS and EAD, how soon I can apply EAD electronically on my own? Can I apply any time that I want (ofcourse, after applying I-485)

3. Our lawyers didn't provide any copies of Labor/I-140 stating they are property of the company. Do I need any information from these Labor and I-140, in order to file electronically the EAD? I am very likely to know the file/receipt number of I-485.

4. Once after applying the EAD, can my spouse still maintains her earlier status as H-4 as long as that H-4 is alive?

You can apply for EAD on your own .. its simple to do online, but you need A number or I-94 number. I would wait till I get the receipt of 485.

You need not send any documents if you do online .. I have done three times without any problem.. but people do send in lot of supporting documents. The only thing you need to appear in application center for your EAD biometrics .. so there might be two for you .. one for 485 and one for EAD.


Applying for EAD and getting an EAD is different from USING the EAD.. so your wife can still maintain H4 .. even after getting EAD.

Does I-485 receipt contain A-Number? Am I going to get another I-94 with my I-485 or whatever my current H1B I94 will do?

Biometrics for EAD too? Insane. Well, we have no option than to follow USCIS.

If EAD USED means, H4 goes into vain? Can you please confirm the differences between having and using EAD? Sick of ever haunting paper work.

Yes your I-485 receipt notice will have A#. YOu are not going to get another I-94 with your 485.

--------------If the primary H1 holder use the EAD then you loose H1 status but if H4 holder use the EAD then only H4 holder invalidate the H4 status and not H1 holder

Can some one tell me how to use EAD. My H1 is expired , but I got EAD before H1 expired. My pay stub is run as regular (as it was run while I was on H1) I see the same taxes as it is at time of H1. Did I miss anythin?
 
EAD vs H1/H4 confusion

Thanks for the responses.

I am confused regarding H1/H4 and EAD.

I learned from the lawyer that, having me an EAD allows me to work PART TIME. With that I assumed, my H1B is for the regular job and EAD for the part time.

But the reply posts here implying, one would be having any one status but not both.

And also, I do rememeber that, having a parallel H1/H4 saves you maintaining the status, if in case ...

Surely, I am really confused here, may be not exactly knowing what EAD really mean.

E.g., The moment I start working part time, sure I need to use EAD. And this should mean to use the same EAD status for my regular job too? My current H1 goes in vain?

The moment my wife starts using EAD, then her H4 goes into vain. Then, if she stops working, then change back her status to H4? My wife may work for some part time job only.
