I am an asylee for a year now and I got my GC last month. Now, I am planning of spending summer in Canada this year. Just a short vacation, maybe 3-4 weeks. I am wondering if it would be difficult to acquire RTD for this and what kind of interview they usually do? How long does it take to get the permission? Also, what happens if I get the permission and I decide to cancel my trip?

Please, I need your advice because I need to set this plan ahead. THanks a lot.. :(

Rtd

To apply for RTD you need to submit form I-130 and sent a money order for $170.00. It's not difficult but it will take 2 to 3 month to arrive, so if you are planning to travel this summer, you better hurry up and submit the form ASAP. I you decide not to travel, you loose your money but nothing other than that.
Good luck:)

Ok why don't you drive by car..that way you don't need a RTD. A GC is accepted if you take a trip to Canada by road. By air, you need a passport or RTD.

Call Canadian Embassy to verify. So just forget RTD, drive to canada, show your GC each way and have fun!! The $170 you save, donate it to charity :))
