i posted a previous thread but no response yet.Hope you would help me.
I got a job offer for teaching position, as i was waiting for my J waiver i could not apply for H1 yet.Iam expecting it in 2 weeks.But H visa quota is officially over.My question is do i qualify under non profit H visa.I heard that only universities or universities affiliated institutions are classified as non profit.Then what about high schools?Pls its urgent.Kindly respond as soon as possible.thanks in advance

Most of the school district falls int o Non profit org. www.lausd.net sponsered more than 100 H1bs last year

I visited the website you have provided and read about the foreign applicants but they said they are sponsoring h1bs till the quota is exhausted from apr 1, which has already happened.

If J1 is tranferred to H1 through school district then it does not come under cap. If you apply directly for h1 through a school sistrict then it comes under cap. So you should not have any problem as you are on J1.

You can call the personnel dept and talk anout h1 non cap provision. They are not knowledgeble when it comes to USCIS matters.
