Trying to figure F1 Status before applying for OPT/H1B - Please advise!

Hope the knowledgeable forum members can help me ..

I am an F1 student. Couple of years back, I did a summer internship. I worked at the internship several days beyond the end date mentioned on the I-20. Did not realize at that time that I might get in trouble and did not tell anyone about it.
I have not done any other work, authorized or otherwise.

My I-20 was expiring last year, I got an extension and a new I-20, and I traveled abroad and came back with the new I-20 stamped "F-1 D/S" at the port of entry.

My question is: right now, am I in valid F-1 status? Please advise!

I am going to apply for OPT now - would the above infraction create problems?

Also, I have received a job offer and my employer is sponsoring a H1-B. Will I have problems with USCIS because of the past infraction?
Also, if the H1-B gets approved, would I be eligible for change of status without leaving the country?

Am very worried now - would really appreciate advise. Thanks.

Thanks Lucy. My worry is primarily because I saw the following at a website:

"TRAVEL & RE-ENTRY with initial attendance I-20

The F-1 student may elect to leave the U.S. and then re-enter with a new Initial Attendance I-20. Re-entry with this I-20 will allow the student to re-establish F-1 status."

In my case, my new I-20 did not mention "Initial Attendance" (since I never reported the violation). Rather, it was for program extension. Is that an issue?

that depends on when your F-1 status expires

I will be on OPT at that time - so I guess I will be eligible for change of status within the US, right?
