Hi,

Which visitor medical insurance is good for visiting parents ?
They are planing to stay here for 6 months.

I did few web comparisons and no insurance is providing coverage for pre-existing conditions.

Thanks,

no insurance is going to cover a pre-existing condition.IMG's Protection America is good....I had taken that for my mother...she had an accident and they covered everythin as per the benefit plan...

U can also try Tata AIG...from India...

When parents come here on greencard, read the article at http://www.insubuy.com/guide/new-immigrants-medical-insurance-plans.jsp
It gives detailed guidance on health insurance scenario for elderly.

You can apply for medicaid.

Unlikely. Remember that a LPR has a sponsor who is responsible for making sure the person doesn't become a public charge.

Medicare isn't available until 5yrs after a person becomes an LPR, and then it is really expensive because the person won't have made the required number of contributions.

Medicaid is a little different, in as much as its generally a state-run program. There is still however a 5yr waiting period between gaining LPR status and commencement of eligibility.

Health insurance options for older new LPRs is very limited and very, very expensive. Read the forum on this as it has been discussed ad nauseum.

If you are unwilling to pay any expenses that result, they should not visit.
