H4 to H1 to H4 status question?

Hi,
I got my H1 visa finally in Feb'07 last minute consideration chile singapore visas, and ssn in march. I am trying to get a contract position in my local area but looks like local market is dull.. i dont think i can take-up a travel job as i am 7 month pregnant.
My question is am i out of status now ? do i need to transfer back to H4 again?

My h4 visa is valid till 2009, If i transfer back to H4 again. do i need to go to stamping if i go back to india.

Is there a way that i can still stay on h1?

If you do not anticipate any contract with in couple of weeks better change to H4, now a days even H4, USCIS is asking paystub to verify you are at work in H1.My h4 visa is valid till 2009, If i transfer back to H4 again. do i need to go to stamping if i go back to india. No need.
Is there a way that i can still stay on h1?

Thanks Great Guru for your reply, I have couple of questions:
1) If i apply for h4 status change- Will i be on h4 once the uscis recieves the application.
2) how much will i be charged for the application fees.
3) After my pregnancy if i want to again switch to h1, does uscis asks for paychecks.

Thanks for your quick response. one final question regarding the answer you mentioned:

Atleast last 2 pay checks, three is good if it is bi monthly.
