CP instead of AOS

Hi all:

I am expecting that my number will be current on June (2007AS62xx). Previously my plan was to do the AOS. And I informed KCC about my intention (that I will do AOS).And accordingly they informed me(In November) that KCC is now finished processing with the case. For adjustment of status I have to contact with USCIS.

But now due to some factors, I am thinking to do CP. So what should I do now? Inform the KCC by mail?? Or phone ??Is it already late ?? Your comments is highly appreciated.

Please note that first time I submitted all the documents (DS 122, DS 230 P-1 and P-2)to KCC. Do I need to submit any other documents now? If I do the CP then do I need police clearance certificate from USA ?

no, but you will need it from your country and other ones.

Is your number current yet?

I do believe you'd have to file form I-824 where your I-130 is pending, but I am not sure how it would work in your case if your I-130 isn't pending yet (case number not current). Do call KCC and ask. If your case is current, filing I-824 may delay the processing by a couple of months. Transferring the case to the consulate may also be delayed. Good lucK!

If you are absolutely sure you want to switch to CP call KCC. If you have already sent DS 122, DS 230 no more forms are needed. They will tell you what to do and closer to your interview they will send you a second package with more instructions. In your NL there is a list of documents needed to present at the interview. Not much different from the AOS list.

You won't need to have a US police certificate, for the US they take care of that.

Barbara, I have some specific queries. I want to do the CP form Canada. Although my native country is different(On which basis I selected for DV). I have Canadian residency. So, I can do that, right?

And one more thing. Do I need police clearance from Canada if I stayed there for less than 6 months?

you stayed in Canada for less than 6 months total?

yes, you can have the interview in Canada, since you are a permanent resident there.
