Hi,

I am MS student graduated in dec 2006 and I joined a consultancy after signing a contract. The contract says I have to pay $3000 if I leave the consultancy as the training fees. I have been with this employer for 2 months now and I have not been getting any calls and so I have decided to move out and I told the employer that I am goin to quit. The employer came to my apartment and was using bad words. He was also about to hit me with a rod.
For the last 2 months I have not been paid even a single penny by the employer. I was also not given any guest house accomadation as most of the other employers do. The training that was provided was also just online training materials and all the stuff was studied on my own.

The contract that I signed is not even on a letter head.

Please let me know how should I deal with this situation. I am not in a situation to hire an attorney, but if required I will do that some how. Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks for the help,
greatly appreciate !

Why can't you call the Local Police Department ? If your paper work is in order and you have legal status to be in this country then you should call the police.

Regarding the contract, if you have signed it then I am assuming you have to pay for it whether its on a letter head or not, but his actions may actually save you from having to pay.

If you want to get out this contract, this is the good chance to compalint to police.

you need to call the police right away about the threat, they police may also provide you help with how to get legal assistance if you can't afford to get on your own.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I hope all gets well for you.

  • Signing contracts and bonds specially with consultancy companies is usually not a good idea
  • When deciding to leave, DO NOT tell your employer. Only tell when you have an offer and accepted it
  • In case of legal trouble get a lawyer
  • In case of physical threat, contact police.
