Hi anonymous12, when did you land in canada. I don't think you have to pay the tax, if you have landed, lets say, in the much later part of the 2002 year like december. If you landed in 2003, then there is no question of it. Can somebody correct me. Thanks

I also think in that way. For example, if you are citizen of india and work in US on H1 visas and if you want to file for permanent residence in Canada then instean of applying in Buffalo you might have to apply New Delhi. Please comment/correct it.

Thanks ginnu for the information. But its not clear about the date that people landing before so and so date will be getting new card and the people landing after so and so date will not be affected. Any views on this.

hey mrp2612, you mentioned in this thread that you recieve I-94 when you were coming back to US. Did you fly from US to canada and did stayed in canada for more than 1 month. I think they are not taking I-94 when you land and come back within 1 month. Please let us know regarding this. Thanks.

I think from March 17, 2003, all landed immigrants in canada willing to enter to USA on non-immigrant basis should have valid visas. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Whatever option you feel is good. Flying is also not a matter. If you are staying in some city near the border, you can drive your own car to canada.

canus_immi samething with us also. we haven't received the PR card yet. Its almost a month after the landing. Please let me know once you get your PR card. The 1-800 number for PR card is of no use from US. And I beleive there is no other number where we can call and find it out.
