Hello guys,
just wanted to take a few minutes to share what I have been noticing in the past year or so here in the US. I'm not trying to discorage anyone from coming to the US because personally I love the US but be carefull, don't arrive in the US thinking that your life will be easy...
I did an AOS because I was already living in the US. As far as having to know the address I can tell you that during my interview they requested a copy of my lease (showing the address). What I'm trying to say is that it probably wouldn't hurt to have an address ready just in case. It shows...
I have to apologize, i forgot to post my reply....
About a year ago my family and I moved to Chicago (on an E1 visa). That was before I knew I had been selected for the 2008 DV lottery.
Chicago is a great city.... lots of things to do, places to see, people to meet and $$$ to spend...
Guys,
I thought it would be interesting to see where all the lucky 2008 DV winners will be moving to and why. This might help the ones who are still not sure.
Take a few minutes and drop a few lines explaining the reasons. Thank you
College in the US can be very expensive. Witha GC you can apply for student loans, scholarships and maybe federal grants. You are probably looking at $15,000 year in tuition and books (does not include room and board).
Community college might be the best way to start, they tend to be a lot...
Moving to the US can be very exciting. Make sure you chose the right state. Keep in mind every state is different and cost of living changes from state to state. Make sure you have a plan in mind and make sure you do some research online before you make up your mind on a state. I recently moved...
The problem with travel insurance is that most of the time you have to pay the bill in advance and then the insurance will reimburse you. I would check with your insurance company and see what they say. They might have special conditions for people traveling to the US.
I'm not trying to...
I did not mail it, i brought it with me to the interview. No financial info was mailed with the package. The officer requested them during the interview.
Dude,
you know how many people would give an arm and a leg for a green card. Go to the interview and get the GC. Come to the US and spend a couple of years. If you don't like it go home after that.
I'm was already working in the US so I brought a letter from my employer stating that I'm employed by them, copy of all of last years paychecks and I also called the IRS and requested a copy of the past 3 years of tax returns.
They did not ask for any bank statements but they did ask if my...
We live in Chicago so we filed at the Chicago local office.
Our file was originally sent to the National Benefit Center in Missouri, and then re-transfered to Chicago for interview.
Guys,
be aware that once you get to the US you will need health insurance. Most clinics and hospitals won't even look at you if you don't have health insurance. If you have health problems or require medicines on a regular basis be aware that they can cost a lot of $$$$. I'm on cholesterol...
Please keep in mind that health insurance is a must in the US. If something happens to you and you don't have health insurance you will be apying for th e rest of your life.
Hello there,
I just wanted to take a few minutes to share with you guys my 2008 DV AOS and to thank everybody for all the valuable information offered by this forum.
I've been in the US for 10 years (college + work). I went through numerous visas ( 1 student visa and 2 work visas) and...
