Do I need to disclose dual citizenship in citizenship interview?

Rick, there is no space to put that down on the N-400 and the BBG process is very unique to Germany. The IO MAY ask, but it has no consequences. ...and due to the BBG requirements (if so desired) zweipaesse is a better source of information.

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

What the f#$k got into your brain? If you can not contribute to the riches of a country, why would they admit you? Sorry - you just absolutely disqualified yourself.

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

Ahm, can you sat the bottle of fine wine aside and re-think your statement? The absolute sole purpose of admission is tax revenue. Has nothing to do with staying or not.

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

I like to add that the sole purpose of ANY country accepting a new citizen (besides humanitarian or political crap) is tax revenue. Please read the requirements of being able to support yourself in the first place (not only valid for the US, but most countries) AND that even if you just want to...

Do we have to report membership with professional and acedamic organization

Nopie was all 100% legal and not political. Didn't mention Church as I had left by the time. Possibly should have, but then it is by default in Germany, if the parents are in the Church and IMHO that's a club too.

Do we have to report membership with professional and acedamic organization

LOL I did that....Sports Club, German Life Guards, Trade Union. Was a no brainer and the IO didn't care. I asked him how deep he can dive etc and that made him shut up. Now well, I never had any party affiliation. That would have been interesting considering the time I came over to the...

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

Nope, it is the very definition of it. Whilst there is technically a value added tax, the determination of such tax has changed and thus (by means of living language) doesn't exist any longer in it's original definition. Hence (and do I love the German language for being preceise) VAT is...

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

barr1025 you NEED to differenciate, thus your info is wrong. There is no VAT and you can't call it a sales tax. Funny thing here is to be precise, which is NOT the case. A sales tax per se has nothing to do with VAT.

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

Not quite... Picture one man working abroad and I do mean it litarally as this is what the question was about. Got a little side tracked; I agree. But one person as sole proprietor working exclusively abroad for a US company he owns with NO partners or other employees? That in terms being...

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

McTavis, Wiki it. VAT would (and does) increase the value of mercendise each time it tades by the VAT percentage, to get rid of that, it is now based on the actual profit, rather then the value of the goods. Actually a bit more complicated than this, but this isn't the forum to discuss...

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

McTavish, it isn't. However, being German (and I only mean this by terms of growing up there) you learn about the specifics of the legal environmen. We all know how difficult it is to ge aquainted to "common" law that everyone knows in the US yet are unique to the US. i.e. In Germany no...

    staying out of country

Yup and it makes me think that there are such things as "dumb" questions. Just getting the idea of being a citizen of the "Land of the Free" and not being able to live where you like has some bad logic to it - well wait, there is still Cuba, so perhaps not such a dumb question after all. But...

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

Ok, your construct is a simplified one, mine was perhaps a little over the top. Anyway, I have my own business and declined to extend a contract in Germany past 180 days as I would have to pay taxes there, plus social security etc and what have you. Getting this reconciled with your...

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

Nope, wrong. With most countries there are agreements against double taxation and once you work abroad for more than 180 day you have to pay taxes there. Though still file your US tax return, but not actually pay taxes as you paid those already abroad. Further, as sole owner of the company...

Registering my own company and working for it overseas

Non starter Wouldn't even consider that option as there is clearly no intent (in the context of INS rules) to maintain residency. Would be different, if you have employment with a company that sends you abroad for a certain period of time. Incorporating for the sole purpose of...

    N-400 Question

I would agree with Triple, you get paystubs and those should be filed. Further for Tax purposes you get your W2 statement with start and end date. So - that should be a non issue, unless you are sloppy with your paperwork.

    staying out of country

Really silly question. There is no time limit staying abroad for as long as you like. You can even die and get burried in a foreign country with no other negative consequenes - after all, you turn to dust. And - jury duty doesn't apply since you reside in an area where no US court has...

Declaring customs incident in Citizenship application

Umm Bob, this isn't a secondary inspection. You are supposed to declare what you have on the customs form and not declaring it causes the fine and (possible) confiscation. Remember whilst it is USCIS there is customs and immigration in the word, but they are to different things. An...

Declaring customs incident in Citizenship application

I would. As far as I can tell it is cearly spelled out that meat in most forms is prohibited and if there was any doubt you should have declared it. You could have stated to the officer that you don't know, if you have anything to declare and simply let him have a look. That would have gotten...
