No, it's not. I called their Embassy and was told that i will need my national passport, although the lady on the phone didn't sound very knowledgeable. but i don't have my national passport, it's part of the reason why i've been granted asylum.

I just applied for political asylum. My driver's license expires at the end of this year. will i be able to renew my license? Another things is that i won't have a valid passport (part of the reason why i am applying for political asylum in the first place).
