I just used my normal signature (an Initial followed by a chicken scrawl) everywhere - N400, during fingerprinting and the Naturalization Certificate. In fact at the Oath ceremony we were specifically told it does not matter how you sign it. In my case they had use the photo and signature taken...
Unfortunately I don't think my case will be of much help to you. I sent in my N-400 nearly 5 years AFTER I became eligible. In fact my GC was set to expire in the middle of this year.

Yes. I had my picture, and signature, taken - and those were the ones used on the Naturalization certificate (not the ones I sent with the N-400 form).

Timeline:
Done with the interview and oath ceremony early April/2012 in Baltimore. Application was sent early December/2011. Interview notification letter was received about a month before...
And take copies...
I was asked to submit a copy of one of my originals and when I said I did not have it the IO wasn't too happy. After some grumbling she made the copies herself.
