You don't need a transit visa if flying with Air India. I came back by same flight from Mumbai to Newark via Paris a couple of weeks ago. I did not require transit visa. You don't have to leave the plane at paris. Am not sure about other airlines.

The website does say that. But the lady did ask for I-129. Mine is H1B. Just as a safety I was carrying I129 along and submitted the same.

Mine is H1. I had the I-797 original approval notice

She didnt tell me why I129 was needed. You better carry a copy of the same else they might send you back. Be prepared with all the documents.

It is for H1 and H4 only. I believe for Mumbai consulate it is required. I got my interview confirmed that ways. For other 3 it seems different than this. Chennai, Kolkotta and Delhi comes under www.ttsvisas.com and Mumbai comes under www.visa-services.com for visa appointments. Hope this helps.

rp1975, I got the confirmation email in a day or two after Blue Dart picked up the packet. Have you retain the Blue Dart package slip? You should track the package online www.bluedart.com If it is delivered to VFS then email them about the status, they are pretty good in responding.
