What has been the funniest Culture Shock story you've heard, seen or been involved in when you migrated to North America?

When we just moved here and the mailman came and my Dad talked with him for a bit. When the mailman left he said he "See you later".

My dad stayed outside for about 45 min thinking he'll come back.

i remember one relative that was too polite to say he didn't understand english. when he first arrived at our house from the airport we kept talking to him and he just kept smiling with this big smile and nodding his head saying, "yes, yes. oh yes." it must have taken ten to fifteen minutes before we realized what was happening.

Every now and again, I come across immigrants whose knowledge of English is extremely limited, yet they still attempt to carry on an entire conversation (in all honesty, this must be commended - at least they are confident!). In such cases, I'm the one who smiles, nods and keeps saying "yes, yes, definitely...uh huh".
