You people are insane

Yeah, OK. Show me a web site that tells me definitively what dates are refered to and the exact wording that a 797 should have.

On the other hand go to any bank's website and it will give you step by step insructions on opening a joint account.

Not the same thing.

Certainly not, but like I stated in my prior post, even websites do not necessarily have the right information either. Asking officers personally doesn't help you everytime. Ask several sources and you get several answers.

Sometimes you just find yourself lost in either lack of information or information overflow. That's why people ask for other opinions here.

btw, my wife's bank is just a small local Credit Union.
They don't offer any advice on how to open a joint bank account on their website.

Information

As one of the beneficiaries of this site, I'd like to make a comment regarding this origional post. When I was waiting for my interview letter, I was like an ant on the hot pan. It is not eazy to get information on what is actually going on from any provided information providers. (The hotline and the info pass sure works wonderfully in most cases. However, sometimes, because people have different situations, even the well prepared forms or the hot will not be enough.). This site is a great invention in my view. By observing other applicants' process, you can actually have a better idea of what is actually going on. The information for those who need it is a key to relief.

Sorry...but what does RFE stand for? I just started to look into the marriage based application paperwork and I see it frequently in people's posts. Thanks.

RFE = Request For Evidence

Basically, they're missing some docs and they'r requesting you.
Meanwhile your application is being held.

it looks to me that the q&a is the same as before. and even that section doesn't have some questions and other good stuff. it should also have have some kind of roadmap.

and let's face it, theory says A and reality says B. some people here send in applications that are misisng half the forms and still get accepted. others send in everything and because the immigration agent don't really understand something, say hello to six months of delay.

many have perhaps even prevented deportation or a wait of years or saved thousands of dollars because of this forum. also, some banks will do everything for you with few documents, and others will need tons of documents and have you do almost all the work. some will not give you anything you get ead or even social security number, others will give you almost everything with just a matricula.

like you spoke of me whan you said, "must include this letter." see, the info is another state and if i could save a few dollars and time and eliminate the risk of having it lost in the mail by having my joint sponsor sending in a copy, why not? and i am new at this. maybe some have sent in copies and that was enough.

and virus, i thought people like you not only want immigration, you want more. you just want it legally. then what is the problem?

so yes, we all deal with the IRS. and that is another disaster known to humanity. even accountants have issues with understanding the IRS. the same with us. so perhaps there should be a better faq. and don't forget that every office or center works differently. some are very good and others are just horrible. some are beyond slow and others are beyond slow.

and i trust that you now see how complex the issue is, that you won't do a lou dobbs. mr. dobbs complaints about illegal immigration and says he wants more immigration. but he never actually talks about improving the system. rather than making fbi name checks fast and easy, he tlaks how is possible for tewrrorist to get a green card. he tlaks about peopel having to wait over 10 years just to get a green card, but never actually talks about eliminiating retro. he one pathetic sbhuman, i hope you don't become like him.

You post is so difficult for me to read. After 30 years of english reading, it is almost impossible to comprehend when an "I" written as "i" and all sentences start with lower case letters. Just expressing my difficulty.

I am not being criticizing here, I have already done that before and lost. May be I should just get used more and more to this type of writing.

I'm still trying to figure out what Lou Dobbs has to do with it mysefl...

As for the poor writing, this is better than your average US high school grad, so you better gest used to seeing it. I'm assuming English isn't TheInquisitor's native language so you gotta give him a pass on that.

I agree Green, eddie
-Inquisitor I am sure you have a valid point hidden in there somewhere but I find most of your posts a bit difficult to understand, maybe simplify it a bit and get to your point in less words.

Thank you for feedback though, this forum is a great resource because so many participate and offer help and advise.

the lous dobbs is how that horrible human being preaches on the issue and knows little about it. how he doesn't really want the process to get better and easier. so some here say that the process works in this way and all that, but very little on helping on that process. you could tell us what the fbi name check is and how it works and why is needed. the same goes for other subjects. but i say a real advocate for immigration will fight to make the laws simple and easy to follow. don't tell me that some people wait years. let's work together to have real fbi name checks that keep the country safe and take like 180 days.

must concede that i must stop using "i" as often. not the best writer, but if a letter comes after a period, it means that a new sentence is coming up. this isn't german where "Sie" has a different meaning from "sie." but i admit i must work on that.

Also, for every immigrant applying who may have limited English and not know the US ways, there is a USC sponsoring them who has lived here for a minimum of 3 years, shoud theoretically speak English and should know how to open a bank account by now.

A - sometimes people are lpr, not citizens. not every person is a citizen.
B - like another person said, citizens have trouble opening banks accounts. go to a local bank and they will tell you that people who are decedants from the Mayflower crew have trouble opening one. some of the smartest lawyers in the country can't keep a balance sheet.

as for the license, if the i-94 isn't valid, you will need some other form. some states want to see the green card and others just a receipt for ead and i-485. have biometrics soon, but already have florida id and could get license tomorrow if i want to. and the web site says i coud get a driving permit (have to drive with a person that has license) but just passing two examinations and prove i can drive. the local office says i don't need the driving test.

unlike FAIR, i don't think he is a fraud. i think he actually cares the country and its people. but he must start thinking for himself. like he is now angry about e-voting. valid points and i share his views. but the same system that doesn't want the feds telling the locals (or locals telling other locals) what to do and how to do it when it comes to elections, is the same system that in theory allows illegals to vote.

the man doesn't see that if he can get a system where the feds have standards on voting and actually force them to do it, he could kill two birds with one stone. you listen to FAIR and the number 1 problem with our election system is voting by illegals. heck, osama could vote. for FAIR preventing illegals from voting is more important than actually getting a system that truly works. people that run campaigns or study them will tell you that the main problem is bigger than that. perhaps we should do like mexico and have a national voter id.

the man has sadly become a mouthpiece for FAIR.
