Over the course of the last 5 years (and maybe longer) people on this board have used either free websites or scanners to track the progress of what was happening at USCIS/BCIS/INS.
This is the only sane way to see progress and measure what is actually happening vs those that choose to post their approval. In this way you can measure what is happening and possibly even take action against USCIS.
Most recently we've had some sophisticated trackers which Kashmir and others have run. If you search this forum you can find those tools and see the stats and graphs that were produced - some very very useful information.
To use these tools you need dedicated people to volunteer to run these on a regular basis, it's not going to happen by wishful thinking or waiting for someone else to do it - you have to.
If you cannot devote your time to doing that then you may consider a website. Here are 3 examples of sites that have been used over the time and interestingly enough they are still functional. One of you need to take the ball and do it and if you want it to be easy let people self register.

I see a lot of peoples posts here lately bemoaning the fact of few approvals and what is happening etc. The moral of the story is that you have to get off your duff and do something - nobody is going to wipe your backside for you. If you search the threads, we have paved the way for you and that is why you see the current process and speed at USCIS. We have sent petitions, faxed, mailed politicians, met at town hall meetings, initated law suits, wrote articles for the media. Now all of that may not be necessary now, but the very least you should have a scanner/tracker going on this forum.
If not, that would be sad and it would be this forums loss.
