Wrong name on Oath Letter

Hello everyone.

I received my oath letter asking me to report to the ceremony. However, the name on my oath letter has a small mistake.

My name goes "X Y Z", and this is the name on my green card.

My name on the oath letter has been printed as "X Y Y Z". All the other info on the oath letter is correct. Will this be a problem, and if so, how should I remedy it in time before the oath, which is a month away?

Thank you

Thanks for the response.

How would I go about getting this corrected?

And is this going to delay my oath? If there is no practical problem to my name being this way on the certificate, then I don't mind. I'd rather not delay my oath

I don't know the best way to proceed, but I guess scheduling an Infopass could be a good start. Other than that there is usually a table where you can go after the oath ceremony if there are any mistakes in the naturalization certificate. One way or another it would be good to have some supporting documentation for spelling of your name.

You will be asked to check the spelling of your name on your oath certificate during registration for the ceremony. Mostly you can take care of this type of problem at that time; just notify them of the problem and they should be able to reprint the certificate.

Thanks for the replies. I think this is strange, because all my other correspondence with the USCIS has my name correct, it's just my oath letter that's incorrect.

I made an appointment for an INFOPASS, should i go and ask them about this, or just cancel and deal with it at the oath ceremony?

Thank you

I think there is a possibility that your naturalization certificate will be produced with the correct spelling. I seem to remember some previous case, but I am not completely sure. It's up to you. Waiting until the oath ceremony to find out and correct things there is not that bad a solution either. If I were in your situation I'd probably wait to find out at the oath ceremony.
