Wrong fees sent with N-400

My husband filed his N-400 application 10 days back. He sent $390.00 for the fees ( $320.00 for filing and $70.00 for biometric). He did this because he read the guide to naturalization which still says that the fees is $390.00. However, another place on the USCIS website says $400.00 ( $330.00 + $70.00 ) is the correct fees. www.murthy.com confirms that the fees has gone up to $400.00.

What are my husband's options now? Does the fact that the Naturalization guide is giving wrong information make any difference to his case? Am very worried!

Hello I also sent the wrong amounts and the INS sent me a letter after 3-4 weeks with the instructions on how to fix it. It just delayed my process by a month.

I am not sure how long was my delay but you will get a notoce from them and you will have to send the correct amount.

Do they send back your entire application and you need to send the entire application again? Or is it just the money that you had to send back?

No the actually sent a specific form to adjust the amount. I don't remember the number of the form.
 
I am in the same boat. had mailed N-400 app. with $390, only to later
learn that it was hiked to $400. Rcvd a notice from USCIS (insufficient
funds) to send remaining funds ($10). But the problem is that $10 check
has not been encashed yet. I mailed the check with copy of notice to
USCIS on 10th Nov. USPS record show that they'd rcvd it on 12th Nov.
and even after a month, still there is no response whatsoever - nada.
I am not sure how to fix this.

In your case, after sending remaining/balance payment, how long did
USCIS take to encash that check and send you FP notice ? If I know that,
it will help me guess the timeline in my case.

I am in the exact same boat. Mailed the $10 three week ago. It still has not been cashed. The USCIS case status page shows no update. Arrrrrrrgh.
 
Unfortunately I did the same thing. Sent $390 instead of $400, by following the guide.

Looks like I will have to wait for the notice saying payment is less.
What a pain. After spending so many hours making sure the applicaiton is correct, you follow the wrong guide and mess up.

Question to those who got a letter after 1 month, and who sent the remaining $10: What is your priority date in this case? Is it the original date that they received your mail, or the date they encashed the $390, or the date they encashed the $400? Can you please provide a timeline?

I beileve it was the original date they received the app.
 
Check still not presented

On Jan 17th, I received the entire application package back. With a note to resubmit with the correct fees.
So on the same day I send the SAME application package (photos, application signed Jan 4th, and photocopies) except for the check. I replaced the check with a check made out to US Department of Homeland Security for $400. Posted it Jan 17th, it was received Jan 18th.

The check is still not cashed.
I am worried if I did something wrong by sending the SAME package. Anyone resent the package as above?
