Hi, I'd greatly appreciate it if someone can help me with this. Here is some background. I got my Ph.D last year and changed my status from F1 to H1. I would like to get a H1 visa stamp in Canada. However, when I was on F1, my mom got her green card so she sponsored me for GC. It'll take a long 7-8 years and I am starting my own green card petition now through my employer. Still, I am sure that my previous filing will show up in the computer when I apply for visa stamping. My question is, would that history affect the visa stamping? I know I am allowed dual intent on H1, but my previous petition occurred when I was on F1. Also, I don't know if it matters, but I came to the U.S. on B2 and changed to F1 6 months later - it was allowed back then in 1992, and I've never left the country ever since. I've never gone out of status. Thank you very much!
