Worth getting H1 stamp or just stick with AP?

Considering that even after entering on Advance Parole you can keep your H1 status, is it worth going to Canada to get an H1 stamp due to the long waiting list for H1 appoinment in India?

Could someone please summarize the pluses and minuses of H1 stamp vs using AP?

Its really not worth getting a H1 stamp as you can re-enter on AP.

The only negative thing about not getting a H1 stamp is that some European countries require a transit visa if you don't have a vaild US visa stamp - they don't "honor" AP for this.
I would just avoid traveling thru any of those greedy countries :)

Otherwise for your primary reason (to re-enter the US), AP is sufficient - esp. since you maintain H1 status.
In my opinion, maintaining H status has more advantages than having a H visa stamp.
