Worst Immigration Lawyer Ever

Hi All,

I just HAD to share this story with you to see if anyone else has ever received such rudeness from an immigration lawyer.

I spoke to a gentleman, who I will not say his name but if you PM me I'll be glad to tell you to never call this guy. He claims to be an immigration lawyer. Not only did he have no social skills what so ever, he also has very little knowledge of the law. He tried to tell me that Canadians are a part of the Visa Waiver Program and I'm only permitted to be in the USA for 90. This is completely not true. When I told him that Canada is NOT part of the VWP, nor do we need a visa to enter the US AND we can be here for 180 days he basically scoffed in my face.

He also told me that there is basically NO way my green card will get approved because there is a 5 year age gap between my husband and I. I am 29 and he is 24. When I questioned this he stated.."US immigration doesn't like couples who aren't the same age or who aren't the same race."

What kind of world does this idiot think we live in? This world has billions of people. Does he think we are all small minded and stick to "our own kind.." My WORD there are 9 years of difference between my own parents!! Ohhh I was LIVID. He also told me that he was "not there to teach me to practice immigration law".....I never once asked him for that request because honestly, I'd rather learn immigration law from CHUCKECHEESE then from this jerk.

On a good note I spoke with two very professional and kind lawyers today from Nashville. So my faith was restored a bit. I had heard I'd have trouble finding an immigration lawyer in Tennessee, being that there aren't many "legal" immigrants here. Just wanted to share! If anyone has ever experienced this kind of stuff before please share...Or if anyone wants to help me get this guy disbarred...let me know.

Wow sounds like a real jerk, but Im glad to hear you found some capable lawyers as well. Dont worry about getting him disbarred, im pretty sure he wont get much business with that attitude.

Did you actually see his License to pratice law? I find it hard to believe he had one. I would also give that information to the Bar Association..to protect others from his incompetence.
I had my own experience with one who did all the papers wrong and did not include critical forms and applications. He got fired and now I want to get some money back.

Just go to the ABA website, search for lawyers in the state he claims to be be practicing, and see if he appears. It is possible to search when his registration expires. If you want some dirty linen on him, you can search for any disciplinary proceeding under his name, if he has ever being disciplined. These public records and you can search them for anything.

People have to be careful who they hire as attorneys. Most recently, a top airforce attorney ( Col. Michael D. Murphy )was fired after it was discovered he has been practicing law for 23 yrs without a license. Worst of all, he was the general counsel for the White House Military Office from December 2001 to January 2003, and from August 2003 to January 2005. In between those tours, he was the legal adviser to the reconstruction effort in Iraq. He was barred for professional misconduct in 1984 by the State of TX.

Do you know how much clearance is done for one to work for the White House? If you don't know, try applying for a visitor's pass to the White House, then you will know how much the Secret Service and FBI will turn over your life for a visit which isn't going to last for a day. So, if someone can dupe the FBI and Secret Service and work for the WH and handled the most classified material without a license, what is stopping a doosh attorney from doing the same? Most lawyers know that people are inherently lazy (not all people though, a small number ) and don't know where to find information on their licenses to practice law and info on disciplinary hearings on them. So, they take advantage of people's ignorance.
