I applied for my wife to return to the U.S. with me (I am U.S. citizen) at the U.S. consulate in Guayaquil,Ecuador. I provided the I-130 with supporting Docs.
The lady said "I am approving this awaiting background check"
Two weeks later, consulate called and said " we need you to return for fingerprints"
Why would me, the sponsor need fingerprints.
I have never committed violence or child abuse.
Can anybody explain, why? thanks, Joe

You refers to your wife!! There is no need of your fingerprints for them, as yours must already be in their database( Taken during the processing of your citizenship application).

Again, I say, I am the U.S. Citizen, I am sponsoring my wife. I went to the u.s. consulate, filed I-130, two weeks later, requested "ME" return for the fingerprints. I have since done this, I went back to the consulate and gave them my fingerprints. They said this was normal and was random. My question was, anybody know about this. thanks, Joe
