Workplace injury and worker compensation after leaving the job

After completing six months after the GC is approved, I was considering leaving the job and be on my own as contractor. Then suddenly, I noticed pain in my wrist that seems to be becoming worse by each day. Researched the Webmd and found that it could be due to carpel tunnel syndrome that is usually related with excessive computer use. Also came to know that this is workplace injury and would for sure be covered by the worker compensation insurance. So I notified the employer, who has filed necessary notice to the state labor department. I am seeing the doctor next week and I am presuming that the claim would be accepted.

My question is after the leaving the job, would present company’s insurance would still cover the treatment cost (which could also include surgery on hand). Any facts would greatly help.

Also since the payment would be made out from the insurance company, I do not think it would ever be considered public charge.

Would the policy cover outlast the job

Joe, I certainly would like to be productive. This injury would treatable and might require surgery. The recovery time is not that long either. What I am planning for is leaving current job, incorporating and consulting on my own. When I do that, I might not buy a worker compensation policy for myself.

The question here is if the insurance carrier finds the current claim (with current employer) legitimate and I go ahead with my plan to transition to contracting, would the current employer’s worker compensation insurance cover me then. My reasoning is that since the injury took place while I was working with this employer and the treatment could last far longer than the time I would stay in this job.

Thanks for answering my public charge question.

Jat, I don't mean to discourage you or anything like that as you already in some trouble. But ,my friend, this forum is for immigration issues. If you get answer what you looking for, fine, but don't count much on it. If you really beleive that you have suffered because of nature of work, then you are eligible for compensation and you need to contact good layer specialised in those compensation cases. Such lawyers can help you to get maximum compensation. Good luck and let us know any further development.

Wish you quick recovery and fat compensation.
