Working on 1099 with EAD?

Yes, sure you can, you are a contract worker on 1099 instead of being a employee.

I have a similar question. On some of the other forums I have seen people commenting that 1099 with EAD is possible only if you are already working on W2. Is this the case?

EAD allows employment in general, it does not stipulate the form of employment, like previously stated that 1099 only restricts a individual to work as a contractor rather than being a employee.
Being on 1099 or on a W-2 is for IRS taxation purposes only and has no effect on EAD.
