Hi Mario,
Since you got your passport stamped, you become a permanent resident the day you set your foot in the US. You don't need plastic GC to work. Nor will you need the social security card. Just show the stamp in your passport to prospective employers.

You need to wait until you receive your social security to work from social security administration. You can't work without valid social security even you are granted americal citizenship.
