Working in Afghanistan for the DOD. Can I become a citizen while abroad?

Hello,

I am currently working as a private contractor for the Department of Defense in Afghanistan. I am a US green card holder who is just now able to become a US citizen. Can I get my citizenship while abroad working for the USA DOD? I know they offer this to enlisted men and women but is there a way for me a civilian?

I'm pretty sure contractors must follow same rules as civilians, but you can try calling military helpline to find out. 1-877-247-4645
