My green card process is sponsored through a company that at the moment has no project for me. My ND is 6/25 so EAD should be coming anytime soon (hopefully). I got an offer to work in another company but I have heard you can ONLY transfer GC after 6 months so I could not work to another company other than the one who is sponsoring ME.

Can anyone help me clarifying this? And is there a way of working to a new company and the GC being processed by the other company?

Regards.

Schools of thoughts...

There is a school of thought which argues that as long as INS has not adjudicated on the I485 application , you should be able to use EAD and jump ship.
If you have plans of joining your sponsoring employer after some time, then I would suggest that you go ahead with your plan. Generally the trouble is created by the sponsoring employer when they try to withdraw I140 after the employee quits (and INS generates a RFE for employment).
Read posts about job change before 180 days in this and the i485 portability fora

You should be getting your EAD soon. My ND was 6/20 I got EAD approval on 9/16 and got EAD card on 9/22

changing jobs

Jaxen and others

how can I work for the new company? I mean, to they have to fill anything or just the EAD card is enough?

And can I work for them and filed for job change after the 180 days? Will the INS find out I have been working for new company before 180 days? Will this be a problem?

thanks for your help!

Final regulations pending

But you dont need to inform INS now. INS might generate a RFE if your old employer writes to INS. But if you are in TSC, dont worry. Snails are moving your file in TSC.

You can use an approved EAD to change employer. Fill up I9 with the new employer and mention EAD, A# for employment authorization.
