Working at Client Company as different company\'s contractor

Hi,
I was working as a contractor for a particular client through a consultant company X. Now this consultant company X had a agreement with me as well as the client company that I cannot join the client untill next year.
Now. this consultant company X has fired me. Can I join the client company directly or can work at this client place through some other contracting agency.
Please respond as soon as possible.

I would say as long as the company is willing to hire you directly, you should be able to transfer. That is, if not too much time has elapsed since your firing.

So the contractor company cannot sue me legally. Please correct me if I am wrong.
