I came to US on F1 Visa for Masters in Information Systems. One semester before the completion of my degree I got H1 (Java Programmer Analyst) approved based on my previous three years experience in India.

I have a Bachelors and Masters degree in Engineering(Non Computers) from India. Now I have worked for my current company for almost two years and want to apply for GC.

Will I be able to utilize my US Masters and the two years experience with the current employer?
If not then can I utilize my Indian Masters degree?
What if I change company?
What is the best case scenario for me under my current circumstances for getting GC?

Jaxen, Jim and Gurus please suggest.
Thanks.

What kind of Masters / Bachelors degree you have from India ?... There are various options for you.

Thanks for the reply. My Bachelors and Masters degree from India are in Materials Engineering.

Your H1 is already approved. FOR GC, you've to
apply for LC First..Your experience from India will be counted. You're eligible to file for a GC
but your catagory may be different, EB3 VS EB2. Your lawyer can advise you about the catagory. Do not wait and file for LC as it takes for ever(Even
DE/Philly is slowing down these days)

In this current tight job market I want to utilize my US Degree and experience for better chances of labor approval. In view of my situation I want to know how I can do that in my current job.
Appreciate your replies.

You can not use the Experience of Current Employer for LC. If you must then need to file GC form some other company & show your Indian+US Degree & Current Experience..

You said you have experience in JAVA before your degree in JAVA right ?.. Ask your attorney, He will advice you correctly how to do that, as you can still use US degree & Indian Experience for LC application form your current employer. (It does not matter if You have wored after or before degree, what matters is you have experience in the field matching with JOB REQUIREMENTS !)

Thanks gp111,

I was under the impression that I cannot use my US degree for labor because I got my H1 approved a couple of months before getting my degree.

Being able to use my US degree will be advantageous for me.

Another question: Is it possible to use only my US degree (MS in MIS) and not the Indian work experience for labor?

You cannot use the degree if you started working for the sponsoring employer before you earned the degree.
