Work authorization question

Hi guys,

I am wondering if it's legal for me to work after my status become AOS but have NOT received EAD yet? I was F-1 before, but after I file I-485, now I'm no longer F-1 but AOS, which means I can't work under CPT/OPT anymore. I got some employers interested in me to work for them but I just file the application for EAD. Can I start working before I receive EAD? Thanks you guys for any suggestions.

The mere act of filing the I-485 doesn't invalidate your CPT/OPT work authorization.

I think he means his status had expired (OPT and F-1), and now is only in AOS (probably by filing I-485) and has not gotten his new EAD. Can he still work or should he wait?

Please OP, if my assumptions are not correct please clarify so they can help you not mess up.

Constructus's assumptions are correct. That's exactly what I meant. Does anyone know whether I can work or have to wait till my EAD arrived?

Can't work until you receive the EAD. Even though some employers will allow you to resume/start employment with the SSN and the receipt for the EAD. But that is up to them in how to deal with the I-9.
