Work authorization in London for PRs?

I\'m an Indian citizen and got my GC couple of weeks back.

Do permanent residents (PRs) require work authorization (similar to US H-1 visa) to work in London, UK.

Also, will I get any reprieve re: visa requirements for touring European countries? In other words, if US citizens do not require visitor\'s visa for, let\'s say, Finland, will a PR require a visa.

I doubt a favorable answer for both, but does anyone know the rules?

Thanks,

It still can make a big difference in many cases.
It is more likely for an European country
to issue a visa to a third country national if he
presents a USA green card with his application.
Once he gets the visa, he may find less hassle
at the entry if he shows his green card.

Not really. Travelled extensively before and after GC - same thing. Once even getting a French visa was a hassle - asked for employment verification and all that. I\'m not from an Arab country, so that wasn\'t a factor.

I wonder if a US PR is caught staying or working illegally in
another country, where will he be deported to, the USA or the
country he is a citizen of.

If a US PR has a rentry permit and has a work permmit to work in another country, there should be nothing wrong with it. please correct me if I am wrong. I am currently in the process of getting my US rentry permit and have a work permit for european country

If you work in another country, you will use the tax
treaty between that country with your citizenship country
or the USA? Though that country think your US GC does not
matter so they don\'t recognize any deal with the USA,
yet you are still considered tax liable to the USA
as long as you are a USA (permanent) resident.

Guys thanks so much for your inputs and suggestions. I do intend to keep my residence in the US and pay all taxes. Would there still be any problems. I have been laid off since the past 8 months. right now this is the only job offer that I have and wish to take it up for the next 2 yrs until the economiuc environment improves .

Do we need both the re-entry permit and N470?

If a LPR takes up a job offer in another country and sends the N
470 form to INS does the LPR also have to apply for the re=entry form to gain admission to the US at a later date?

When applying to N470 does the future employer have to show any documents?
