Won DV 2011 Lottery - want to know some details about the next step

Hi Rajiv,

I am from Sri Lanka.My wife won the recent DV lottrey(July 2011). we got to know about this from DV lottery result page but still we didn't get official mail from them.from the site i got to know winners of the 2011 lottery need to complete the next step before end of the first week of September(2011). What is your openion on this shall we fill the web forms and proceed to the next step or shall we wait until the official mail come.

Hi Kanchana,

The recent results were released in July 15th 2011 but in fact you are officially referred to as a DV 2012 winner (not 2011). Anyway, you need to know the following (if I miss out anything important anyone more experienced please fill in)

- There will be no official mail sent from KCC for DV 2012 winners (You can print out the winning notification online at the STATUS CHECK WEBPAGE)
- All official directions should be accessible from following the links on the DV WINNER NOTIFICATION LETTER but basically you will need to fillout the DS forms for you and each dependent you plan to immigrate to the USA with (read provided directions for more details) and then include 2 passport size photos (2x2 e.t.c) for you and each dependent applying with you and lastly include the DV WINNER NOTIFICATION LETTER and send that out to KCC as soon as is conveniently possible (Double check several times to avoid any mistakes in the forms).

There are a lot of details that might be applicable to you that you might want to know as you prepare for your interview so I suggest that you read as many threads as possible so that you are well informed.
