Withdrawing I-485 Application

Hi,

I filed 2 I-485s. One with my employer (my spouse was not part of this application) and another through my spouse's employer. Recently my I-485 application was approved. Now I want to withdraw the other I-485 application which is through my spouse.

Has anyone done this before? Any advice?

Thanks

You can write a letter requesting for withdrwal. If your attorney filed it, he/she should write the letter. Otherwise, just forget about it. It is going to be denied anyway.

-------------forget about it, they will check with your A# that you got approved and will deny the second I-485.

Hi Tundra,

We are planning the same thing.
Can explain your case details.
Did you got ANY REF's?
Did you applied EAD's and AP's using both I-485's?
Did you do 2 FP's one for each I-485?
What is you Service Center?
Is your wife's case approved?

Please respond :)

Hi Jambalakadi1,

Applied I-140 and I-485 through my employer. Also part of spouse's application. Got 2 EAD's and AP's. Went to FP twice. Both the applications are through VSC.

Good luck

Ginnu,

I have two different A#s. Does checking of one A# tell about the other A# and gives the corresponding info..probably linked through SS#???

Thanks

No, it does not. Normally USCIS should not assign two different A# to same person. Probably it happened for you due the fact that you did not mention your A# (that you got from first I-485) on your 2nd I-485.

Pralay,

You are right. When I filed my 2nd I-485, I didnot get the first A#.

------------------ when you filed second I-485 you were supposed to write your A# of first I-485 filing and on second I-485 you need to answer if any I-485 is pending I-485 form has YES or NO for that and you should have also wriiten pending I-485 reciept#. If lawyer filed second I-485 you were supposed to inform him that you have other pending I-485 or provided him first I-485 filing reciept copy, if you did not got first I-485 filing reciept when second I-485 was filed, you could have written on cover letter that you have filed first I-485 on date.. with service center .... and did not got reciept of first I-485 filing .

Ginnu,

If we mention about our previous I-485 A#, then will USCIS will use the same A# for two different I-485's? How does this work?

lets say my wife filed 2nd GC. I will also join as derivative. Now I mention about my previous I-485 A#'s in 2nd application. Now what happens to my first GC application ( which is based on My I-140) in this case? Its very confusing.. Can you please clarify?

Two different I-485s but same A# (basically for same person). That's the way it works.

First application remains valid, becuase that is totally independent and separate application.

multiple I 485 (FP confusion)

I have also applied for 2 I 485. When I and my spouse went for fingerprinting, my spouse's LUD changed for but for the wrong case. No LUD change for me. (1) Does that mean my case is stuck in FP and/or name chaeck. How do I check that. (2) How do we clarify the confusion to INS about FP results being sent to the rong case for my spouse (3) Should one FP be valid for both cases or they require you to the FP twice.

Please help
