Congratulations Shrini100.

I am eagerly waiting for your interview details. I myself have interview lined up for the coming Monday.

Hope you post your details soon.

Also post the name and other details of your lawyer. That might save someone from going thru the same agony as you did because of the stupid lawyer.

Thanks

Based on Shrinin100\'s experience and one other posting (I belive it is
Shridhar Rangarajan ) I believe INS officers look for fraud and nothing much. In today\'s situation people who were highly valued only
a year or two ago are being fired for no fault of their own.
Because of their stupidity the governement increased the H1-B quota
without even checking whether jobs will hold out for sometime.
Now with the market saturated, it is "kill or be killed".

Everybody is not lucky to hold out for 180 days. People could get fired in less than180days of 485 ND/RD. The employer may or maynot revoke the I140.
In some cases you manage to get your EAD and find some other work
which is similar but your old employer may not give a letter stating that he may take you back! Sometimes your old employer is no longer in business. All these situations put a lot of people into a lot
of stress! As stated above in case of Mr.Shridhar Rangarajan\'s case
his sponsoring company went out of business, so he could not
show a letter from the sponsoring company, but the INS officer did
not deny him the GC.
My case is similar. My company was acquired. The acquisition is still
not ratified yet. But the new masters are now cutting through like an
axe. My job may be in line. The new company is after my old company
ticker symbol. Once they get it they may just close my compnay and layoff everybody. They may not even give me a letter. I may be an excess baggage. Right now there is talk of outourcing Software and
Hardware to India!! I have two months for the so called 180 day rule.
So this is my Plan OF Action. Instead of worrying about this giving
me stomach ulcers, I plan to pray, take a deep breath, test the market, wait for the axe and enjoy the severance. Once I get a job
in the similar classification, tell INS the truth at interview time.
If my previous company gives me a letter, fine, otherwisw what can be done?

Even if the compnay send a letter to INS informoing about the layoff,
I believe the letter will be appended to you case file. It will be seen when the case is opened.

Thanks guys for listening to my frustration. I believ that there are
other people in a similar situation out there.
God willing we will get pour GC.
