Can you provide a bank statement with £10,000? it will be enough to support your application.

It is rather odd that you were asked for tax form 1040 which is for green card holders to declare foreign income (if I'm not mistaken) and you're not even a green card holder yet.

Normally they would ask for bank statements or an I-134 Affidavit of Support.

If you have $10,000 or more it should be more than enough to support your application.

Some consulates, including consulate in Tbilisi, Georgia routinely require applicants to bring I-134. Even if you have funds on your own, they ask applicants for I-134. Not sure why - maybe the do not trust bank statements from local banks.

yeah,.. each CO develops a practice that becomes well rooted and it has to do with the specifics of the country (such as lack of trust)
