Will using AP invalidate H1-B?

My lawyer says

If I use AP, I lose H1 only in some aspects (What aspects? ) And I can still renew my H1-B and also retain the work permission part of my H1-B.

I am confused. Can somebody helps to explain?

I dont think u will invalidate..There were some threads discussing that..and ppl have said in the past that u can use ur AP to travel and H1 to work. I believe I am right (I used to think the same way before)

For your reference, my wife just used AP last month for travelling abroad and come back while continues to work on H-1B. I also got a couple of friends having the same situation for other companies, so, I think it is ok. But, be sure to consult your company's immigration/legal attorney first to get their "ok", because there is confusion in interpreting the AP rules. Technically, using AP will not invalidate H-1B, however, dependent upon the company's immigration representative.
