Will they accept my N-400

I completed my N400 and sent it by FedEx on Saturday to Vermont. It will be delived this morning July 30th, but it was received and stamped by FedEX on Saturday July 28th. So I am sure I made the deadline.

In the application on Part 7 we had to list the trips taken outside the country. I had 3 pages of trips listed because I am from Canada and often go just for the weekend as I live in New York. I forgot to fill in the box (give the number value) that asked for the TOTAL number of days spent outside the USA and the box with the TOTAL number of days of 24 hrs or more.

The trips all ranged from 4 days to 10 days. I had a total of 23 trips.

Also Part 10 - they asked for affiliations witrh organizations, associations etc.
I submitted 4 pages listed of these as I work extensively (outside of my job) doing volunteer work with community groups and mentoring youth and assisting non-profit groups. As well I have received countless awards for my civic contributions from both the local and national level. I llisted these as well as I have been honored by many organizations.

I am concerned that because of what I omitted in Part 7 (giving the TOTAL number), my application may be rejected.

What do you think?

Also if they just return it asking for that one page to be completed will I have to pay again? Pay the $800 fee rather than the $400 fee?

I called but the clerk could not tell me what would happen and said as far as the date goes the application must be date stamped by July 27 or 28 to be accepted with the old fee.

To the best of my knowledge and experience, they do not penalize you for simple mistakes which can be easily rectified.

Do not worry about this till you actually hear from USCIS.

The IO will spend a lot of time going through your trips abroad because of the sheer number to determine your compliance with the residency requirement. Be prepared with all the documentation to prove that you do comply with it.

Wait for two weeks for the check to clear and you will know. I personally think your appl will be accepted.
Reg the missing info, you can update it during interview.

Do come back in a few weeks and update the board about the mailing issue.

Thanks everyone for your reply.

what documents are you referring to?
Would I have to produce copies of all my traval tickets/receipts for those I listed? Or are you referring to other documents i wouls have to provide?

No need to worry. They'll ask you in the interview about your trips and to give an estimate and they'll write it in. I added a overseas trip (work trip) from before my GC and then forgot about a long weekend one to Canada myself. They just corrected it and didn't care that I forgot about the one Canada trip and just readjusted my time. So you won't have a problem not writting down the exact number of days...

If it is air travel, I guess tickets etc would work. Also there will be a record in your passport about your visits.

I assume you travelled to Canada by road in which case you might not have a record in your passport as they are not typically stamped every single time.

I remember there was a few discussions here a while back about getting records from the Border Authority (as the GC is swiped every time you enter the US, hence they should have the records). Look up entries by Flydog who was in the same situation as you and travelled back and forth very often.

Thanks to all for the info & advice.

How long will it be befeore an interview? Rough estimate from anyone who recently has gone through the process.

1 month to >1 year depending on whether you will be stuck on "Name Check". It is beyond the scope of our understanding, comprehension and intelligence as to who is relegated to this Limbo.

Of course, people have been stuck upto 5 years after the interview too and only a letter to Laura Bush or Dick Cheney seems to get them out of that.

Update:They recievd it July 28/07.... They cashed my check in Sept but so far I have heard nothing else and have received no mail or documentation from them at all.

Any speculation from anyone as to what may be happening? Just the back log maybe?

Sounds like USCIS is concentrating on cashing checks to fund their operation without regard to sending out notification letters. Let's hope this is not the case. Have you called USCIS customer service yet?

mayfletcher. I suggest you call USCIS and let them know you have not yet received a notice.

edit: Or see if you can make out the receipt # on the back of the check image.

I have not called but I will. My returned check is just a photocopy of the front so I cannot see the receipt number.
It was sent to Vermont is that where I call?

Contact USCIS Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-375-5283.

What is the exact date the check was cashed. Count the number of days since it was cashed and let them know that info.

Ask if they can transfer you to an immigration officer for more precise info.

Good luck

I called today and they said my paper work was just processed 3 days ago. They told me that my application has been approved and that I should be receiving documentation in the next 2-3 weeks.

Update

Today I received my Fingerprint Notification and my receipt.
One question...they used my ffull name & i wanted to use the abbreviated version. Is it too much hassle and will it cause delay to change that now?

Just stick to using the official name. The fewer names you use, the better. If it is incorrect, then call them and correct it.

What happened was on my green card they put the abbreviated name so that is on my driver's license also. So I wanted to keep it consistent. But now
the US Naturalization forms has the official name.

I have never heard of this before. Can you explain what you mean by an "abbreviated name"? Do you mean missing an initial or middle name or truncated name yyyyyyyty = yty

What happened was on my green card they put the abbreviated name so that is on my driver's license also. So I wanted to keep it consistent. But now
the US Naturalization forms has the official name.

Here is what I mean for example
an official name is Jeffery which is what was always used (it is on credit cards, bank accts, etc)

The lawyer does the Green Card he put Jeff (I only realized this after)

So the Green card ended up being in Jeff and so I was told I had to also put my driver's licence in Jeff because that was my offical USA ID, I could not change it.

now I complete N400 and where it says official name I put Jeffery and so now they have sent me documentation in Jeffery.

I just want all this to be consistent. I am now having to renew my driver's licence and since I have to do it in the next few weeks it will remain as Jeff because my naturaliztion process is just starting.

So I will have 2 diff names once again on everything.
Jeffery on citizenship papers
Jeff on driver's licence
Jeffery on bank accts, credit cards
