I will go back to Canada with maple card for holiday soon. I left Canada a year ago and received my maple in USA.

Do you know is there any record to show when you left Canada? Last time when I left canada there was no record becasue it was in the midnight and nobody in the canada side.

But I don't know if is there any new changes and everybody must show your maple card /passport when you left and the left time was record then.

Do you think I should tell them the true I left one year ago and now just go back for holidays or I may tell them I left two weeks ago and now go back? Which way is safer to my Canada PR status?

thanks

Test - Administrator or anyone please help!

Does any one know why I can not post using the same machine over and over?

PS- Now, I am only able to post this message because I am using
a public PC other than my home machine.

R U sure they don't keep track of U?

I was in Canada only once and that's when I landed 2 years ago.

I am in a similar situation, but I will go back to Canada without a PR card for the holiday and apply for one there . I left Canada 2 years ago and might go back now to apply for the PR card.
I have same curiosity: If I were asked when was my last visit to Canada, could I say 2 weeks instead of 2 years?

If they don't keep track of your next visit after your first landing, then I will becocme eligible for the Canadian Citizenship too!!!

I appreciate your confirmation.

Thanks

----- Tell them 2 weeks back you left the Canada; provide some date like on 4th I went out, for what? Business trip or meet a friend
If enter by air then write the same date on custom form like 4th on custom form that you will fill up. If enter by road or border post (better) no custom form is needed they will just ask what is your status” Canada permanent retirement’ Go
Do you know is there any record to show when you left Canada?
-------No they don’t have any record of your exit from Canada
Last time when I left Canada there was no record because it was in the midnight and nobody in the Canada side.

But I don't know if is there any new changes and everybody must show your maple card /passport when you left and the left time was record then.

----- tell them 2 weeks back or give particular date 9 left on 4th December or something like that) and be relaxed
If they don't keep track of your next visit after your first landing, then I will become eligible for the Canadian Citizenship too!!!
----- They don’t keep track of your exit. But for citizenship you may have to attach copy of Canada DL or Health card read Citizenship form and requirements. I don’t know if they also ask tax filling for last 3 years. Talk to some one in Canada and post info for others what others suggest for citizenship application. I know a person who never stayed in Canada after landing and got Canada citizenship, I dont know what he wrote on form/application as he does not give the info.

Thanks but what about records of an old car imported

The question is regarding this:

“I was in Canada only once and that's when I landed 2 years ago.

I am in a similar situation, but I will go back to Canada without a PR card for the holiday and apply for on there. I left Canada 2 years ago and might go back now to apply for the PR card.
I have same curiosity: If I were asked when was my last visit to Canada, could I say 2 weeks instead of 2 years? “

My question:
What about records of an old car to be imported when I go back and say I left only 2 weeks ago? I have bough a car in the USA 4 years ago. So if I drive it to Canada and say I left only 2 weeks ago, then wouldn't my car's record show that I was actually living in the US and not in Canada? Or they don't check that anyway?

Thanks again

Do they just take your word for it?!!!!!!

If it is not verifiable information and you mention that you were away from Canada only a couple of weeks, then when you return as a permanent resident you might save a LOT of time. You may even be very close to getting the citizenship.

But the biggest question is whether they could find out later (at the citizenship phase) that you were actually AWAY from Canada) not just a couple of weeks but years.

Is it up to the permanent resident to provide evidence that she or he was only absent for a couple of weeks at the canadian immigration port of entry?

I am not sure if immigration could find out if you have been away from Canada more than 2 weeks.

I wish there is anybody who could share his/her experience or provide any suggestion.

when you claim residency in canada , remember you have to pay taxes on your worldwide income for that year , where will you get that from . Where was the rent receipt , Medical insurance , car insurance and remember if there is a question on your residency , it is upto the PR to prove that he was present and not for CIC to prove that he was not present .

Remember to keep the consequences of "Lying to immigration" before you state anything at the border,CIC or sit for the citizenship tests ..

why lie for citizenship and be scared to get it taken back all your life when being a PR you can do anything you want and also be in US for 3 years out for 5 years of being PR

my 2 cents

well said.. remember all it takes is 1 person - ex spouse, disgruntled co-worker , angry relative to write to cic and you are in deep trouble. follow the law- dont lie its not worth the risk. my 2c

Because of this, re-applying made easier then?

Thank you guys...

I think I am better off withdrawing my current residency in CA and re-applying.

This is because I need to stay in the US 4 more months to graduate from a US university. But if I stay in the US 4 more months I will definitely exceed the 3 years out of 5 years limit.

Is re-applying guaranteed approval? Will it be faster?

Is there a way to stay longer than the 3 years?

Would any home-based business in the US (for a Canadian company) be accepted?

In other words, would my time while working for the home-based business not be counted as allowed time outside CA for the purpose of PR?

Thanks again
