Hi,

I was just wondering if the physical and the tests ( needed for I-485) be covered by health insurance providers in general.

i looked up online and the doctor that i'm going to is out of network...so i just wanted to ask if anyone filed a claim with their health insurance provider to cover their physical expenses.

Thanks.

My heath insurance only covered my X-Ray. Most likely they charge to fill out the forms so you will have to pay for that, you may also want to try the local health dept. for the blood work and immunizations. That can save alittle money.

Kalyan2002,
I seriously doubt it. The medical exam is not a preventive exercise, thus will probably not be covered by any private insurance. My K-1 medical was not covered in any form or shape by OHIP (Ontario's provincial plan) in 2002.

Specifically
That is entirely dependent on your insurance. In most cases, it will not be covered since the exam is not considered a "medical necessity" - however parts of it could be covered if you have a "wellness" rider or something like that, that will include wellness visits and tests. They may include some tests, while explicitly exclude certain tests from coverage.

However, before you call the insurance company and ask - look up what doctors you even have to chose from. Then if necessary - call your insurance company and ask them the specific questions.

I personally had some of my immunizations covered but the exam itself was not covered and neither were the additions blood tests. Please call your insurance provider and ask specific questions.

Kaylan, If you have to do a chest x-ray, ask if your insurance will cover it. Like I said, I did and it was covered under my husband's insurance. It saved me some money. I paid a total of $170 or so for the hole thing. The other parts did not cover eventhough the doctor was on my health care list.
