Hello Everyone!

Will I be in trouble if I apply for Citizenship? I got married on September 2005. Got my PR card on August 2006 and then got divorced on Feb. 2010. Please, I need your input on this issue as I am planning to apply for citizenship.
And also, is it necessary to change your name on your PR? because I got my maiden name back after the divorce. Because it is expensive if I do both.
 
Yes. It has been removed already. Got the 10 year permanent resident card on aug. 2006 and will expire on 2016.

That doesn't make sense. You got married in Sept. 2005, and got a 10 year card in August 2006? You should have received a 2-year card in 2006, since you were married for less than 2 years at the time. Having a 10-year card issued in 2006 is an error and it will complicate your situation ... unless your green card is a derivative based on your spouse's GC process, or is otherwise unrelated to your marriage. What was the basis of your green card? Did your spouse have a green card or citizenship before you, and then filed a marriage-based I-130 for you?

As Jackolantern mentioned, something doesn't add up. You got married in 2005 and already had conditions removed in 2006?
 
Okay I received my conditional card on 08/09/06 and will expire on 08/09/08.

And then together with my hsuband that time applied to remove my conditional status and then recieved a new card on the mail.

It says, Resident since 08/09/06.
Card Expires..06/24/19. This is not a mistake right?
He is USC.
Does being a Resident start on 08/09/06 or 08/09/08?
 
Your permanent residence started when your conditional card was approved in August 2006.

If it was issued in June 2009, it's not a mistake.

You have your unconditional card in hand, and you were married for over 4 years. I see no reason for you to get in trouble, assuming you didn't lie when applying for removal of conditions (e.g. pretending to be living together when you were still separated).
 
You had conditions removed 2 years before divorce so it's not an issue for naturalization (unless you previously lied about your relationship to gain an immigration benefit).

The conditions were removed less than a year before the divorce. Card expires 06/24/19, so it was approved in June 2009, and the divorce was Feb. 2010.
 
So, are you saying bobsmyth that I am in trouble because it only lasted less than a year?

No, it wasnt a lie we were still married and living together when we applied for the conditional to be removed.
 
Interesting, I don't mean to hijack the thread but my situation is unravelling in a similar way.

married july 2007, 2 yr card in may 2009, i797c extension in march 2011, waiting for Biometrics now.

Now the complicated part. I work away for 7 months at a time in Alaska. This time my wife is talking about divorce. She cheated in the relationship in 2008 but we stayed together and worked on it. I am a stepfather to a son from her first marriage. The ex husband committed suicide two months ago.

I have recieved my 1 yr extension to cover biometrics andd hopefully the 10yr green card. but now I am in the postion of having a wife who is out partying the whole time whilst I am 5000 miles away.

If she initiates a divorce before my gc is confirmed where does that leave me. I am not a two year gc jumper and love my family but see that the writing is on the wall right now.

Apologies again for hijacking, I am new and using the search function repeatedly brought me back to this page.

I hope everything works out for you.
