another question I have is about the I-9 form when starting a new job.
which one of these 2 i should check

A Lawful Permanent Resident (Alien # A
An alien authorized to work until .....

Thanks a lot

No i didn't bother to go back again, Gilbert, the I-9 form, can i check
A Lawful Permanent Resident (Alien # ?
jut to let you know, i haven't been approved yet.
thanks

Without a unrestricted social security card and without a valid EAD, how in the world can you complete the I-9???? I do not think any employer can legally hire you.

If i get hired, i am planing on showing the judge letter along with this document http://www.ssa.gov/immigration/documents.htm
Also this week I am planing to go to SS office with the same documents and ask to talk to supervisor. SS usualy takes 2 weeks to arrive, if i hear anything it will be this week, so i am not even sure if this will help or not but definitly wil in the futur.

thanks

Gilbert, if let's say the clerk refuse to let me see the manager, what should i do? i want to be prepared. for your info., this is a small town and there is only one SS office.

I doubt an employer will accept this.

Thanks for your advices. Gilbert last week i remember you said you helped someone in Baltimore. can you please give me some tips if you don't mind?

tanks a gain

Cider,

I would quit worrying about the abstract. I would just go as high a level within the SSA as necessary to get a ss card. I would also go back to the immigration court to get an original grant order.

Having just a copy of the IJ decision and nothing else is not the wisest thing to do.

thanks Kiev, here some update about my situation.
today i printed out the social security document Gilbert put up here. i read it carefully and found out that legally SS can't issue me an unrestricted SS card. the document listed 3 document that i can show to SS office.

1) I-94 ......do noy have
2) EAD .......Expired
3) Original order of an immigration Judge ....i have a copy

I browsed throught the forum for a bit and found that one from this forum went to the BCIS and applied for I-94. so i though, let me drive 90 miles to Houston and see if i could apply for it. i waited an hour and half to talk some agent, who told me i needed to apply for I-102 ($100). then i went to asylum office in the same neighborhood, the lady wsa very nice, she said that i can't apply for I-94 (whatever), she put my alien number in the computer and told me they still show old address (from 6 years ago), i couldn't believe it, i told her in several occasions i changed the address and i been receiving all my EAD in the new address. she said the I-485 is different (sure). anyway, i came back empty handed, i decided to apply for EAD online, i did it and now i wait and hope for the best.

just wanted to share this experience with y'all

One option is calling the immigration court administrator and requesting a CERTIFIED copy of the asylum grant letter. All courts have procedures for this. And I cannot believe that you have been holding just a copy all along. It is not smart.

In regard to the I-94, yes you can apply for one WITHOUT fee. It is admittedly a new procedure announced by CIS central office not too ago. So even many CIS people might now know about that yet. If you wish, I would be happy to e-mail you a copy of that CIS memo.

Best.

one more thing, i am sure if it matters or not. i still have the I-94 from when i first came to the US (visitor)
