Wife won and I don't show up as a spouse/derivative applicant?

Hello.

I applied for the DV 2019 lottery using a service, USAFIS, and they did double entry, one for me and one for my wife.

My wife won and now when I put the case number on the CEAC website I saw my wife as the principal applicant and my children as derivative applicants, but I did NOT see my name on the list, so I pressed "Add Applicant" and added myself as a spouse.

What could that mean? Could it mean that USAFIS messed up my wife's form and put her as single and didn't put any spouse information (me)? On USAFIS' website I put the information that we're married..

Thanks.

If your children are showing up as derivatives and you’re not, it means USAFIS entered your wife as single which will definitely lead to visa denial for her and the family.

This is precisely why you should have submitted the DV registration yourself. Absolutely no reason to pay any agent or organization for a process that is completely free

Thanks for the reply.

I added myself as an applicant and filled/submitted the DS-260 form.

Say I do get an interview, would the interviewee be understanding that it's a mistake? My wife and I have been married for the past 20 years and I have proof.

It doesn’t matter that you’ve succeeded in adding yourself to the DS form. And I’m sorry, the omission will not be treated as a mistake. Been married for so long or having proof of that is irrelevant. It will be seen as failure to comply with the given instructions of adding all applicable derivatives at the time of eDV registration, she was listed as single when she’s actually married. It is considered a misrepresentation.

Again, thanks for your reply.

Is it 100% that the company put her as single? Is that the only possible reason why I did not show up on the list?

If so, is there any solution for this?

I wish people would stop using these IDIOTIC websites to enter!!!!

It completely messed up your chances. The data is old, the photos are old, and you have no control.

There is no solution for this case. Denial is 100% certain.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

What do you mean the data/photos are old?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

What do you mean the data/photos are old?

Often people sign up with sites that offer multiple years of entries i.e. they will enter for you for the next 3 years or 10 years or whatever. In that case there is a chance that would would have changed your status, you photo should be updated and so on. I don't know whether USAFIS offer this - but their website is FULL of incorrect information and plain old lies - so it's not really a shock to find they have messed up your case. I just don't understand why anyone would pay a company to enter a free lottery, especially since doing that increases your chance of refusal.

Yea, what actually happened is I signed up for the 2018 DV lottery and they also entered for me in the 2019 DV lottery..

It's so sad how a small mistake by a lazy worker of theirs ruined my chance at a life-changing opportunity.

Well sorry - but you chose to use their service. I just hope that others learn from this sad example.

Blame yourself and not “a lazy worker of theirs”. You chose to use a paid service as against submitting the registration yourself. By your account, they submitted your first registration in 2018, which means the photo they used in 2019 is not even six months old (or less), and DV instructions says picture shouldn’t be more than six months old. So yeah, tough lesson to learn.
