My wife is pregnant right now and we need to do the medical examination for I-485. My question is - do they do the initial TB skin test, if someone is pregnant? Has anybody gone through the same situation?
If she is pregnant, doctor will note that the candidate might be pregnant and will skip the test. Possibly she might get a RFE in the later stage , but either can plead with the IIO or do the skin test later (6-12 months after delivery)
OK... I was not sure if they do TB skin test on pregnant women or not. I read on many websites and they mentioned that the skin test can be done on pregnant women since the bacteria used for the test are "passive". Just wanted to check with you all, if you had any particular experiences to share with respect to pregnancy and the medical test in general.
Generally the doctor will advise to skip the TB test for pregnant women and INS understands such circumstances. But make sure that a note is made that the applicant is x months pregnant on the medical test forms. Honestly, the baby in the womb is more important than a Green card or any other card.
